The Council of Europe’s Campaign to Combat Violence against Women, including Domestic Violence, marks its first anniversary on 25 November, the international day for the elimination of violence against women, with events throughout Europe.
Terry Davis, Secretary General of the Council of Europe: “A place where women are abused, hurt and humiliated cannot be called a home. It is a prison in which the victims are detained by the chains of violence, chains of fear and chains of silence and indifference. The Council of Europe is working to help the victims to break free.”
